Hoping you all had a wonderful New Year!
I just read that in Times Square, the combined weight of the confetti that fell as the countdown hit zero was… 3000 pounds!
Imagine the clean-up…

Just as I’ve evolved this newsletter over the last few years (and thank you for sticking with me through all those iterations!), I’ve had to evolve my personal/business website as I figured out exactly what it was I was truly offering.
First, huge shout-outs of gratitude to my long-term clients and colleagues (I’m looking at you James, Penny, Emily, Doc Diego, Scott, Michael, Bob, etc) who have offered advice and been sounding boards and taught me things I didn’t even know I needed to learn.
Second, I humbly ask that you check out the vastly improved JasonCannon.art. I’m still tweaking here and there, but the heaviest lifting is done.
I also request that if you or someone you know needs a storycoach in 2025 (or speaker or teacher), you send ‘em right to the HIRE ME page.
And don’t worry, there is totally a picture of Gaia and Odin, too! I know my silly pups are the main reason most of you read. :)
Quotable (with a bonus recommendation!)
Been watching little chunks of the terrific documentary QUINCY on Netflix. We just lost the amazing Mr. Quincy Jones last November, and this doc is well worth watching.
At one point, his daughter Rashida is interviewing him in the back of a car as they are driving to an airport in some far-flung land. She asks him something about ego, and his two-part response made my heart sing…
“An ego is just an over-dressed insecurity… You have to dream so big that you can't afford to have an ego, because you can never fulfill those dreams.”
—Quincy Jones
Here’s to dreaming so big in 2025 your ego can’t compete!
The Page&Stage Podcast: Stage Whisperer
A reminder to check out the final episode of Season 1, showcasing the life journey and career of Andrew Cortes, a Broadway expert, podcaster, and audio-book narrator. His life message stresses the importance of embracing one's unique attributes, a principle he learned early in his career and which he encourages all artists and storytellers to replicate. Andrew also shares the origin story of his podcast, Stage Whisper, and talks about how it evolved and blossomed into the "NPR of Theatre Podcasts."
And a double reminder that next Monday I’ll send you a short and personal solo mini-episode, setting us all up for Season 2. And the storytelling tips o’ the week will be back next Friday, too!
Thanks as always for reading, and have a great weekend!
